Furniture and home décor seem to follow fashion trends. In now and in the landfill later. On to the next style. Add to that cheap, disposable furniture and you have a recipe for waste and excess. I truly believe that our lives should reflect our values. Do you want to do good for your home planet? Think about how you purchase furniture in your home. Will your furniture last a lifetime? Or will it last a season or two? Eventually ending in the local landfill. And then what? Plastics and synthetic materials will last for generations in the landfill.
So what can you do? Purchase locally sourced wood products. I build my dining tables, chairs and loungers to last generations. And when their life eventually ends it will recycle back into the nutrient cycle. Just as if it were a tree that fell in the woods.
