Your new reading chair
"He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist." — Francis of Assisi
This past summer was a time of great joys and also lots of hard work and frustration. "Sounds like life" you say? Yeah I guess so.

As a furniture builder and designer I often wrestle with how to define what I do. On one hand my work is strenuous, dirty and difficult. On the other hand it is beautiful, creative and joy filled. As someone who prides himself in working hard I often have to allow myself to step back and enjoy what I have created, for me this is spiritual. This quote from Francis of Assisi often grounds me. It allows me to remember that The Creator is an artist, just look at the abundance of beauty in our world!
But to work with your heart you allow yourself to be vulnerable. I am not only creating something functional. I hope it is also beautiful. I love clean lines and mid-century style. But I do not want to build another Wagner or Fin Juhl chair. I strive to take forms of the past and building something from my heart. This is what I have done with my newest lounge chair. clean lines meet Mountain style. The seat is Bison and the wood is from Montana. You cannot get more mountain modern than that. The chair is refined to its simplest form, yet is strong and functional. And did I mention it is comfortable?
I have been working on ideas for this chair for the past year. Sketching, modelling and finally getting arriving at a completed form. I hope you like it!
